As of June 2012, The Biological Test Center has closed and we are no longer providing any services. Thanks to everyone for all their support through the years.
Dr. Joseph Cappello received his PhD in Biological Chemistry from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Cincinnati, OH. He is a specialist in medical device development and brings with him many years of experience including clinical trial management, immunoassay development, and pre-clinical study design and testing.
We are pleased to announce that the BTC is now ISO 17025 accredited. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding our biocompatibility testing.

ABOUT US
The Biological Test Center (BTC) was established in 1980 to serve the needs of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies.
Our Center specializes in five main areas of medical product development:
- Biocompatibility Studies (Medical Devices): USP, NF, ISO 10993, FDA OD G95-1
- Ophthalmic/Ocular Drugs and Devices: In-vivo studies and multi-species model development including:
- Surgical evaluations
- Slit-lamp and fundus examinations
- Fluorescein angiography
- Neurodiagnostics
- Electroretinograms (ERGs)
- Visual-evoked potentials (VEPs)
- Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
- Intraocular pressure (IOP)
- Specular microscopy
- PK (including radiolabeled)
Please inquire about our ability to provide you with unique, multi-species model development for ocular studies.
- Pharmacokinetic Studies (PK): Ocular and systemic, including radio-labeled, sample preparation, combustion, counting, and HPLC
- Toxicology: Ocular, oral, dermal, IV, and topical studies with acute, sub-acute, and chronic duration
- Surgical Services: Wound healing, stem cells, interventional cardiology, specialized tissue harvest, orthopedic studies, ocular surgeries (including fine micro-dessection)
